The suspects followed their vehicle in the gray SUV and opened fire shortly after. The driver was grazed on the head and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was reported to be in fair condition. A third person in the vehicle was unharmed and provided crucial information to the detectives.
As of now, the investigation into Aleshia Denia Smith's death is ongoing. Area Two detectives are handling the case, but no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The authorities continue to seek information from the public to help solve this tragic case.
