On the evening of April 5, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Fort Worth police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Northwest 16th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 46-year-old Casey Robert Guerrero seated in his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during surgery around 10 p.m.
Initial investigations indicated that Guerrero was attacked while inside his car, with the assailant fleeing the scene before police arrived. The Fort Worth Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation, pursuing multiple leads to identify and apprehend the suspect.
On April 25, 2024, authorities arrested 32-year-old Samuel Moreno in connection with Guerrero's death. Moreno was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail on a murder charge.
