Shavontae Towers, a 23-year-old African American male, was found dead on August 26, 2020, in his apartment located in the 15200 block of Ashland Avenue in Harvey, Illinois. The discovery was made by Harvey police officers who were conducting a wellness check at the request of Oak Lawn police. The Oak Lawn police had been informed that a gunshot victim had arrived at Advocate Christ Medical Center earlier that evening, claiming to have been shot at Towers' address.
