Jawaun Davis, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on March 24, 2021, in Bridgeview, Illinois. Davis was standing in line waiting to enter the facility when he was ambushed by two individuals who opened fire, striking him multiple times. The suspects, identified as Matthew Givens, 23, of Lansing, and Cortez Hudson, 24, of Oak Park, were quickly apprehended by the police. Both men were charged with first-degree murder and attempted vehicular hijacking. They later abandoned their car and attempted to carjack a Tesla, but were unsuccessful in starting the vehicle, which allowed the police to catch up and arrest them.
