On April 26, 2021, Jorge Cruz, a 17-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of South Drake Avenue. Jorge was walking with a female companion when an unknown assailant opened fire, striking him in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Jorge was a sophomore at Farragut Career Academy High School.
Following the shooting, the female witness reported seeing a small white vehicle
fleeing the scene immediately after the gunfire. The Chicago Police Department's Area Four detectives launched an investigation into the homicide.
As of now, there have been no publicly reported arrests or identification of suspects in connection with the death of Jorge Cruz. The case remains under investigation, and authorities continue to seek information from the public to aid in solving this crime.
