Eddie Thigpen, a 14-year-old African American boy, was tragically shot and killed on May 8, 2021, in the East Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of South Springfield Avenue and Madison Street. Eddie was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen in the parking lot of an Aldi grocery store. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was unable to communicate with the police upon their arrival.
