On May 9, 2021, Demari Stephens, a 16-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Markham, Illinois. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at a BP gas station located northeast of 167th Street and Pulaski Road. Alongside Demari, 18-year-old Carlos Slaughter, also an African American male, was fatally shot.
