On May 9, 2021, Demari Stephens, a 16-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Markham, Illinois. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at a BP gas station located northeast of 167th Street and Pulaski Road. Alongside Demari, 18-year-old Carlos Slaughter, also an African American male, was fatally shot. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, Demari Stephens died from multiple gunshot wounds, while Carlos Slaughter succumbed to a gunshot ...
