Christopher Oberheim, a 44-year-old white male police officer from Champaign, Illinois, tragically lost his life on May 19, 2021. Officer Oberheim was fatally shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call in the early hours of the morning. The incident occurred in the 2400 block of North Neil Street, where Oberheim and another officer arrived at the scene shortly before 3:30 a.m. As they exited their vehicles, they were met with gunfire from an armed suspect, leading to a shootout.
