Christian McDougald, a 31-year-old male from Lombard, IL, tragically died on May 27, 2021, in Maywood, IL. McDougald was fatally shot outside of Studio 914 Barbershop on 914 S. 5th Ave. The incident occurred after McDougald refused to pay for a haircut and an argument ensued with the barbershop owner, Deshon McAdory, 40, of Lombard. The argument moved outside, and McDougald followed McAdory to the shop's back door, where McAdory allegedly shot McDougald in the chest.
Maywood Police responded to the scene and found McDougald with two gunshot wounds to his chest. He was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Surveillance footage captured the shooting, and a witness identified McAdory as the shooter. The gun believed to be used in the shooting was found in a jacket believed to be McAdory's, and ammunition matching shell casings found outside the barbershop was discovered in his car.
McAdory was charged with first-degree murder and held on a $250,000 bond. His attorney claimed that McAdory acted in self-defense. Additionally, McAdory's business partner, Samuel Williams, 43, of Bellwood, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Williams had three guns found at his workstation and had prior felony convictions.
The case drew significant attention, and both McAdory and Williams were expected to stand before court again for further proceedings. The investigation continued as authorities worked to gather more evidence and build their case against the suspects.
This tragic incident highlights the severe consequences that can arise from disputes and the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully. The loss of Christian McDougald at such a young age is a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the impact of violence on individuals and communities.
