Officer Ella French, a 29-year-old female police officer from Chicago, IL, was tragically killed on August 7, 2021, during a routine traffic stop on the city's South Side. French, who was of Caucasian ethnicity, was conducting the stop with her partner, Officer Carlos Yanez Jr., when the situation escalated into an exchange of gunfire.
