On the evening of March 30, 1978, 29-year-old Linda Irene Goldstone, an instructor in the Lamaze method of childbirth at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, was abducted as she exited her car near the hospital. Her assailant, identified as 22-year-old Hernando Williams, approached her at gunpoint, robbed her, and forced her into his vehicle.
