Demetrius Stevenson, an 8-year-old African American boy, tragically lost his life on September 27, 2021, in Markham, Illinois. Demetrius was playing in the front yard of his home when he was struck by a bullet in the head. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on the corner of 157th and Homan streets. According to police reports, the shooting was gang-related, and the intended target was Demetrius's 18-year-old brother.
