Jarrod E. McDonald, a 44-year-old white male from Roodhouse, Illinois, was found deceased on November 13, 2021, at his residence. Born on October 2, 1977, in Jerseyville, Illinois, Jarrod was known for his work with Local IBEW 51 in Springfield, where he trimmed and cleared power lines. He was a family man, survived by his wife Hope Settles, whom he married on June 12, 2021, and his children and grandchildren.
Jarrod enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time outdoors, but most of all, he cherished moments with his family.
The circumstances surrounding Jarrod's death prompted an investigation by the Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 6. On the day of his death, Greene County sheriff's deputies, along with officers from the Roodhouse and White Hall police departments, responded to a 911 call at a house located in the 1100 block of Northeast 450 Avenue, approximately five miles northeast of White Hall. Upon arrival, they discovered Jarrod inside the residence with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Greene County Coroner's Office.
The investigation into Jarrod's death is ongoing, with the ISP leading the efforts, assisted by the Roodhouse Police Department, Greene County Sheriff's Department, and Greene County Coroner's Office. The official cause and manner of death will be determined once the final autopsy and toxicology reports are completed. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The authorities have not released additional information, emphasizing that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
