James Sweezer, a 14-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on January 12, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the Englewood neighborhood, specifically in the 1400 block of South 73rd Street. James was standing on the sidewalk around 8:45 p.m. when someone in a passing dark-colored vehicle opened fire. He was struck in the head and was immediately transported to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
