Janiya Hollinside, an 18-year-old African American woman from Hazel Crest, Illinois, tragically lost her life on July 14, 2022. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Sibley Boulevard in South Holland, Illinois. According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, Janiya was struck by a gunshot that passed through her left arm and into her chest, ultimately leading to her death. She was pronounced dead at 6:48 p.m. on the same day. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
