John Pruitt, a 37-year-old African American male from Carbondale, Illinois, was tragically killed on October 3, 2022. The incident occurred in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane, where Carbondale Police officers responded to reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found John Pruitt with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance, but despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
