Delia Green, a 14-year-old African-American girl, was tragically shot and killed on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1900, in Savannah, Georgia. The incident occurred in the Yamacraw neighborhood, a predominantly African-American area, at the home of Willie West, where Delia worked as a scrub girl. The perpetrator was 15-year-old Moses "Cooney" Houston, who had reportedly been in a sexual relationship with Delia for several months.
