Jacob 'Pearlie' McInnis, a sheriff from Irwin County, Georgia, met a tragic end on June 27, 1910, in Ocilla, GA. Sheriff McInnis, along with Deputy T.W. Sheffield and Chief of Police Stephen Davis, was attempting to arrest a suspect on domestic violence charges. The suspect had barricaded himself in his house and was holding his children hostage.
