On June 27, 1910, Deputy T. W. Sheffield of the Irwin County Sheriff's Office in Ocilla, Georgia, was tragically killed in the line of duty. Deputy Sheffield, along with Sheriff Pearlie McInnis and Chief of Police Stephen Davis, was attempting to arrest a suspect on domestic violence charges.
