On March 12, 1977, 20-year-old Diane Collins, a young woman from Atlanta, Georgia, was tragically killed in a shooting incident at Adams Park. Diane, who was white, was with her fiancé, Gordon Whitfield, when a gunman approached their parked vehicle and fired six rounds into the passenger side window. Diane was killed instantly, while Gordon, who was also shot, managed to drive home despite his injuries and call the police.
