Lieutenant Robert Gerald Bridges, a member of the Clayton County Sheriff's Office in Georgia, tragically lost his life on July 9, 1986. He was accidentally shot and killed by a fellow officer during a SWAT team training exercise. The incident occurred when live ammunition was inadvertently mixed with training rounds and loaded into one of the training weapons. This tragic mistake led to the fatal shooting of Lieutenant Bridges, who was participating in the exercise.
