Jia Yann "James" Chao, a 33-year-old male of Taiwanese descent, was a prominent programmer at IBM in Atlanta, Georgia. On April 25, 1990, Chao, who was known for his punctuality and dedication, failed to show up for work. Concerned colleagues, including Jimmy Ku, were sent to check on him. Upon arrival at his apartment, they discovered Chao's lifeless body lying on the floor. Authorities were immediately notified, and the scene was sealed for investigation.
