Melvin Vernell III, known by his stage name Lil Phat, was a 19-year-old African American male who was tragically murdered on June 7, 2012, in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Lil Phat was shot multiple times while sitting in his car in the parking lot of Northside Hospital, where he was awaiting the birth of his child.
