In the quiet suburb of Lawrenceville, Georgia, a tragic event unfolded, revealing a depth of despair that ended in the loss of two lives. On the evening of Thursday, January 30, 2014, concern grew for 24-year-old Vincent Phan and his mother, 48-year-old Thuy Phan, after family members were unable to contact them. Vincent was a male who was clinically diagnosed as being autistic.
A search for the missing mother and son led to the discovery of their bodies in a wooded area off a paved pathway at Rock Springs Park.
Gwinnett County police responded to a call about the two missing individuals around 8 p.m.. The search intensified when Thuy Phan's car was found at the park by her eldest son, who then alerted the authorities. A search team was assembled, and at approximately 10:07 p.m., they made the grim discovery. Both Vincent and Thuy Phan were found deceased from gunshot wounds.
