On March 27, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies conducted a welfare check at a residence in the 25900 block of Avenue C in Montgomery, Texas. Family members had grown concerned after being unable to reach the occupants, 62-year-old Stacy Wright and his wife, 61-year-old Cathryn (Cathy) Wright. Upon entering the home, deputies discovered both individuals deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the incident was isolated, involving only Stacy and Cathryn. Authorities indicated that it appeared to be a murder-suicide, though the exact circumstances and motive remained under investigation. No arrests were made, and no additional suspects were sought in connection with the case.
Stacy and Cathryn Wright were high school sweethearts who graduated from Montgomery High School in 1981. They married on March 13, 1989, in Las Vegas and recently celebrated their 35th anniversary. The couple is survived by their two sons, Joshua Allen Wright and Jerid Ashton Wright, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Stacy had a long career with Conway Trucking, now XPO Logistics, spanning 33 years, while Cathryn worked for 25 years with Germania – Allphin Insurance in Montgomery.
The tragic deaths of Stacy and Cathryn Wright have left the Montgomery community in mourning. Authorities have expressed their condolences to the family and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
