A shopping trip to Cumberland Mall turned tragic for 55-year-old Violet Lambert of Atlanta. In the parking lot, she was shot multiple times in a violent confrontation. Witnesses at the scene described the harrowing event, with one noting she had been shot in the eye. Despite efforts to save her, Lambert succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
The man police identified as the shooter was 59-year-old Danny Wray Brown of East Point, who was described by Lambert's family as a longtime
co-worker and friend. Brown had reportedly developed a romantic interest in Lambert, who was in a long-term relationship. Family friends indicated that Brown's behavior had become possessive, to the point of stalking Lambert.
After the shooting, Brown fled the scene in a white van. He later contacted Lambert's son, admitting he had done something 'stupid' and expressed his intention to take his own life. Following this call, police located the van at a home in East Point. Inside, they discovered Brown, who had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators believe he acted alone in the attack on Lambert.
