On the morning of May 30, 2014, 23-year-old Arika “Lottie Dottie” Jarrell, a female, was discovered deceased in a car on Fairburn Avenue in Macon, Georgia. She, along with 32-year-old Ralph Heard, had been fatally shot in what was described as an armed robbery and ambush. The two were reportedly followed from Wings Cafe before the deadly encounter.
Another man, 25-year-old Terrance Vanderick Dent Jr., was also killed in the incident.
The investigation into the triple homicide led to the identification of several suspects. In February 2019, three men were sentenced to prison for their roles in the deaths of Jarrell and Heard. Vincent Lewis, then 41, pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter, as well as racketeering and gang-related charges. He received a 40-year sentence, with the first 30 years to be served in prison.
Two other men, Quintavious Isaih Everett, 27, and Rayshaun Reanaldo Lucas, 36, also entered guilty pleas to charges including racketeering and violating the state's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Everett was sentenced to 20 years with the first 10 to be served in prison. Lucas also received a 20-year sentence with 10 years to be served in prison. The cases against these individuals were also connected to a larger investigation into a gang-related contraband ring operating within the local jail.
A fourth man, Lewis Monroe Cheney II, was also charged in connection with the killings of Jarrell and Heard. At the time of the sentencing for the other three men, his case was still pending in Bibb County Superior Court. The prosecution asserted that the violence was gang-related and that such criminal activity would not be tolerated within the community.
