Quintroy Roberts, a 29-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on the night of August 24, 2014. The incident unfolded in front of a residence on Carrie Street around 11:10 p.m. When Richmond County sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered Roberts had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on August 25 at a local medical center.
The violence of that night was not limited to Roberts' death. Three other individuals were also wounded in the shooting. Ladonna Robinson-Wright, 37, Daquoria Louis Robinson, 20, and Antoine Deion Wright, 33, were all transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The shooting sent a shockwave through the community, leaving friends and family to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a man they remembered as a loving father who cherished his children and spoke often of the importance of family bonds.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office launched a homicide investigation.
