In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in September 2014, Hardy Touray, a 44-year-old male, was fatally shot in the driveway of his home on Hilltop Way in south Fulton County, Georgia. A hardworking owner of a local convenience store, 2 Rays Mart, Touray was ambushed shortly after returning home from his business. Fulton County police responded to a call of shots fired just before midnight and discovered Touray deceased at the scene.
At the time of the incident, investigators had not
determined a clear motive for the shooting and were actively searching for the person or persons responsible. Touray’s brother, Hassan, voiced his belief that the motive was robbery, revealing that his brother’s home had been the target of break-ins in the past. He speculated that someone may have followed his brother from his store, believing he would have cash at his residence. According to his brother, however, Touray never kept money at home. Described by those who knew him as a caring and kind man, his death was a profound loss to his family and community.
Originally from Sierra Leone, Hardy Touray had been a resident of the United States since 1990 and was a father of two. His family, deeply grieving their loss, made a public plea for anyone with information to come forward to assist the police in their investigation.
Despite the initial investigation and the family's appeal for help, there have been no publicly reported arrests or identification of suspects in the years following the shooting.
