In the early morning hours of December 6, 2020, a dispute at a southwest Atlanta gas station turned fatal, ending the life of 43-year-old Danard Pooh Oshai Bell. An African American male, Bell was at a Chevron on Sylvan Road when an argument with another man escalated into gunfire. When police arrived at the scene shortly before 2 a.m., they discovered Bell in the parking lot, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation into Bell's death led authorities to review
surveillance footage from the gas station. Days after the shooting, the Atlanta Police Department released video of a suspect, a man wearing a black hoodie, in the hopes that the public could help identify him. In a renewed effort to generate leads, more surveillance footage of the same individual, captured from different angles, was released in February 2021.
Despite the circulation of these images and the ongoing investigation, the suspect has not been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the shooting. The case remains unresolved, with no information publicly available regarding any charges, trials, or convictions. The investigation into the death of Danard Bell is still considered open.
