Derrick McGinty, 37, an African-American man, was shot in a parking lot along the 1800 block of Memorial Drive in southeast Atlanta on the night of October 15, 2014. He and 30-year-old Michael Edwards were attacked around 11 p.m. outside an apartment complex area identified in coverage as the Arbors of East Atlanta; both men were rushed from the scene, but McGinty did not survive.
