On February 22, 2012, 48-year-old Suhrid Das, a grocery store owner, was fatally shot during an apparent robbery in northeast Atlanta. Das, originally from India, was closing his store, Banna Grocery, around 10 p.m. when an assailant confronted him. The suspect forced Das back into the store, where he was shot in the abdomen. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital but tragically did not survive.
