In the early morning hours of September 6, 2014, Dontavious Stokes, a 23-year-old male, was resting in the living room of his Smith Street home in southwest Atlanta when his life was abruptly cut short. He was watching television when a barrage of bullets tore through the front of his house. More than a half-dozen shots were fired from outside the residence, with one fatal round striking Stokes in the torso. At the time of the shooting, his roommate was upstairs and was unharmed.
