In a relationship described as having a long and often tumultuous history, 60-year-old Samuel Collins, a male, was killed by his partner in their Marietta, Georgia home. The fatal altercation occurred around October 3, 2014, reportedly stemming from an argument over how their dinner had been prepared. The argument escalated to a tragic and violent conclusion, ending a relationship that had spanned years.
Following the dispute, Frank Davis Bowles, who was 59 at the time, shot Samuel
Collins multiple times. After the shooting, Bowles dragged Collins' body from their residence on Old Concord Road and concealed it in the woods behind the property. In an attempt to flee, Bowles then took his partner's driver's license, credit cards, and van, and drove to Tennessee. His escape was short-lived, as Tennessee law enforcement officers discovered him passed out inside the van on the side of a highway within a day or so of the murder.
Faced with the evidence against him, Frank Davis Bowles soon confessed to killing Samuel Collins. He was subsequently extradited to Cobb County to face charges. During legal proceedings, Bowles pleaded guilty to malice murder. In a poignant moment during the plea hearing, one of Collins' sisters read a statement expressing forgiveness towards Bowles for his actions. Ultimately, a Cobb Superior Court judge accepted the guilty plea and sentenced Frank Davis Bowles to life in prison for the murder of Samuel Collins.
