An argument outside a convenience store in Dublin, Georgia, escalated to violence, ending the life of 22-year-old Timothy Jones. On a Monday evening in January 2015, Jones was at the Dublin Foods store on North Jefferson Street when he got into a dispute with another man. The verbal altercation turned deadly when the other man, identified as Antonio Davis, shot Jones.
Wounded with a gunshot to the chest, Jones ran to a nearby apartment complex on North Franklin Street, seeking help. Witnesses at the Southern Manor Apartments heard five or six gunshots and discovered Jones on the ground, calling out for aid. Despite efforts to save him, Jones later succumbed to his injuries at Fairview Park Hospital.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to Antonio Davis as the suspect. In a turn of events, about half an hour after the shooting of Jones, several shots were fired into Davis's home on Prince Street, leading investigators to believe the two incidents were connected. A murder warrant was subsequently issued for Davis's arrest. The day after the shooting, Davis contacted a female Dublin police officer and revealed his location. Officers were then able to arrest him without incident, and he was taken to the Laurens County jail.
