Alicia Ruby Richards, a 39-year-old woman, was killed by her ex-husband, Norman Alphonso Richards, in a violent outburst that unfolded in her Covington, Georgia, home on May 21, 2015. The couple's two daughters were present to witness the horrific event that claimed the lives of both their mother and father.
The evening had begun with a family milestone, a celebration of one of their daughter's fifth-grade graduation. However, the celebratory atmosphere soon soured upon their return to Alicia's residence on Wellington Ridge. An argument erupted between the divorced couple, reportedly ignited by a disagreement over the disciplining of their daughter. Norman became enraged when Alicia took away the girl's cell phone, a phone he had purchased for her.
The dispute escalated with alarming speed. In a fit of anger, Norman Richards produced a firearm and shot his ex-wife. Immediately after killing Alicia, he then used the weapon to take his own life.
