In the late hours of a Sunday in LaGrange, Georgia, the life of Tobias Tramell Ogletree was tragically cut short. On August 30, 2015, the 24-year-old African American male was at the Good Times Bar and Grill on Hogansville Road. While on the main dance floor of the crowded establishment, an assailant approached him from behind and fatally shot him. The sudden violence sent patrons scattering, and in the ensuing chaos, many potential witnesses dispersed before they could provide statements to the police.
Tobias, born on December 5, 1989, was a resident of LaGrange and a graduate of Callaway High School. He was an employee at Sewon and was known for his dedication to his work. A member of the Saint John C. M. E. Church in Pine Mountain, he was a father, son, and brother, cherished by his family and friends. The LaGrange Police Department immediately launched an investigation into his murder, reviewing surveillance footage from the bar which confirmed the presence of a large crowd at the time of the shooting. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification of the person responsible for Ogletree's death.
For more than a year, the investigation continued without a named suspect. Then, on October 26, 2017, a significant breakthrough occurred. 26-year-old Ralphale Andrew Neal was apprehended in Mobile County, Alabama, in connection with the murder of Tobias Ogletree. Following his arrest, Neal was charged with felony murder and other offenses related to the shooting. The arrest brought a sense of hope for justice to Ogletree's grieving family and the wider LaGrange community.
