On a cool November evening in Morrow, Georgia, the life of 23-year-old Ty'Ron Davis was cut short by gunfire. On November 9, 2015, at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers from the Clayton State University Department of Public Safety responded to reports of gunshots at the Clayton Station Apartments, a student housing complex. There, they discovered Davis lying in a breezeway, having sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to Southern Regional Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to lead the homicide investigation. An autopsy later confirmed that Davis had been shot twice. Investigators began the arduous process of interviewing witnesses, as well as Davis's friends and family, in an attempt to piece together the events that led to his death. It was determined that Davis was not a student at Clayton State University, and the motive for the shooting remained unclear in the initial stages of the investigation.
In December 2015, the GBI publicly identified a person of interest they believed could be a crucial witness in the case: 23-year-old Larenzo Marcel Drayton. Authorities appealed to the public for information on Drayton's whereabouts, indicating that he might have information that could help resolve the investigation into Davis's death.
Despite their efforts, the investigation into the death of Ty'Ron Davis appears to have stalled, and to date, no arrests or suspects have been publicly announced in connection with his murder. The case of the young man gunned down in a university apartment breezeway remains unresolved, leaving his family and community still waiting for answers and for justice to be served.
