In August of 2017, the city of Morrow, Georgia, experienced its first homicide in over a decade with the death of 18-year-old Kheron Cunningham. The young man's body was discovered near railroad tracks after being fatally shot during what authorities described as a drug deal that went wrong. The incident prompted a swift investigation by the Morrow Police Department, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of three suspects.
The investigation quickly led to the identification of several individuals believed to be involved. The first to be taken into custody was 18-year-old Rhaquan Clyde of Morrow. Shortly after, a second suspect, 22-year-old Rasheen Garrett of Albany, was also apprehended. The third and final suspect, 28-year-old Ferante Dewberry of Morrow, was arrested and identified by officials as the alleged gunman in the fatal shooting.
All three men were booked into the Clayton County jail to face charges related to the death of Kheron Cunningham. Rhaquan Clyde and Rasheen Garrett were charged with murder and party to a crime. Ferante Dewberry faced charges of murder and weapons offenses. Garrett also had an outstanding probation violation. The arrests brought a swift, though somber, resolution to a case that had shaken the community.
