In the quiet town of Morrow, Georgia, the night of December 8, 2022, was shattered by violence that claimed the life of 25-year-old Juan Jose Montalvo. Just before midnight, at approximately 11:57 p.m., police were called to a residence on Londonderry Drive, where they discovered Montalvo's body near the driveway. He had been shot multiple times.
The investigation into Montalvo's death quickly revealed a connected and equally tragic event. Only seven minutes earlier, at 11:50 p.m., officers had responded to a shooting less than a mile away on Mount Zion Boulevard. In the parking lot of the Village at Panther Creek apartments, they found 20-year-old Zachary Tallant, also deceased from gunshot wounds. The close proximity of the two incidents led investigators to believe they were linked.
The Clayton County Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division took charge of the case, treating it as a double homicide. Their investigation swiftly led them to a suspect, a 16-year-old male whose identity was not publicly released due to his age. The teenage suspect was taken into custody in connection with both killings.
The 16-year-old suspect is facing a series of serious charges, including two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and two counts of aggravated assault.
