In the late hours of a March evening in 2016, a gathering at a home in southwest Atlanta turned tragic, leaving a young man's life cut short. On March 26, police responded to a call of a person shot on the 4000 block of Bakers Ferry Road. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Duntavious J. Pittman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders quickly transported Pittman to Grady Hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives began their investigation at the scene, which early indications suggested may have been a party with teenagers present. They collected evidence from the street and around the home in an effort to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
