In the late evening of May 1, 2016, a verbal altercation on Bridgestone Lane in Savannah, Georgia, tragically escalated, forever altering the course of many lives. Teesean Goodman, a 23-year-old African American male, found himself in a dispute with a group of men. The disagreement took a violent turn when a gun was introduced, and Goodman was struck by a bullet.
Responding officers discovered him at the scene with a gunshot wound and he was quickly transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Teesean Goodman succumbed to his injuries the following day, on May 2, 2016.
The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes detectives immediately launched an investigation into the homicide, believing it was not a random act of violence. Their work quickly led them to their first suspect, 24-year-old Joseph Odom, who was taken into custody on May 2nd, the same day Goodman passed away. Authorities strategically withheld the announcement of Odom's arrest as they continued to pursue other individuals believed to be involved in the fatal shooting.
The investigation pressed on, and with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, two more suspects were apprehended on May 16, 2016. The additional suspects were identified as cousins Cedrico Wallace and Mario Wallace, both 21 years of age at the time. All three men, Joseph Odom, Cedrico Wallace, and Mario Wallace, were subsequently charged with the murder of Teesean Goodman, bringing a measure of progress to a case that had cut a young life short.
