In the summer of 2021, a life was cut short in Savannah, Georgia. Arthur Cameron Alridge Boston-Carter, a 31-year-old male, was fatally wounded by gunfire on the night of July 2nd. The incident unfolded near the intersection of Avery Street and Wilder Drive, a location that would soon become the focus of a homicide investigation. Shortly after Savannah Police were called to the scene around 11:30 p.m. following a report of a shooting, Boston-Carter arrived at a local hospital by a private vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
In the weeks that followed, detectives with the Savannah Police Department worked to piece together the events of that fatal night. Their investigation led them to identify a suspect in the shooting. On August 24, 2021, the grand jury indicted 23-year-old Deandre Tyrone Miller in connection with the death of Arthur Boston-Carter. Following the indictment, Miller was taken into custody and held at the Chatham County jail.
Deandre Tyrone Miller faced a series of serious charges related to the incident. These included felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Additionally, he was charged with a single count of possession of a firearm by a first offender/probationer.
