In the summer of 2016, a promising life was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. Lekeshia Janae Moses, a 16-year-old female, was fatally shot on Friday, July 1, 2016. Known affectionately as 'Lady Bug,' Lekeshia was a student at G.W. Carver High School where she was involved in the ROTC program. Her untimely death occurred at the Wilson Homes apartment complex.
Following the shooting, an investigation was launched by local law enforcement. A teenage suspect was identified, and a murder warrant was issued for his arrest. The suspect later turned himself in to the police on a Saturday. He was subsequently charged with the murder of Lekeshia Moses. In the ensuing legal proceedings, the teenage suspect entered a plea of not guilty to the murder charge.
Lekeshia was born on March 22, 2000, in Columbus, Georgia. Her family, including her parents, Traketa Moses and Michael Brown, as well as her siblings and grandparents, were left to mourn her sudden and violent death. Funeral services were held the following Saturday at a local funeral home, with interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
