Elimisha Maryetta Gates, a 40-year-old African American woman, was tragically found dead on August 23, 2016, at the Express Inn & Suites in Stockbridge, Georgia. The initial call to the police reported a person down at the hotel. Upon arrival, officers discovered Gates deceased in her room. The investigation revealed that she had been shot in the back of the head while she was sleeping, a brutal and senseless act that shocked the community.
