In the winter of 2021, the life of 16-year-old Azariah Miller was tragically cut short in what police believe was a gun sale that escalated into a robbery and fatal shooting in Stockbridge, Georgia. On the evening of December 20th, Miller was a passenger in a vehicle with several other individuals, purportedly to complete a firearm transaction that had been arranged online. Unbeknownst to her, the transaction would take a violent turn, ending her life.
The following day, law enforcement officers discovered Azariah's body inside a car that had been abandoned. An investigation was immediately launched by the Henry County Police Department, which soon uncovered the details of the deadly encounter. According to investigators, the plan to purchase a gun was a setup for a robbery. When the suspects in Miller's vehicle attempted to rob the sellers, an exchange of gunfire ensued, and Azariah was struck.
In the days and months that followed, authorities made a series of arrests in connection with the homicide. Four men were ultimately taken into custody and faced charges that included murder and aggravated assault. The identified suspects were Johnny Lester Boynton III, Quinton Renard Smith, Shamel Q. Crowder, and Christopher Joel Dejerinett. The investigation indicated that all four men were involved in the botched robbery and the subsequent shooting that led to Azariah Miller's death.
