In the spring of 2019, the life of 39-year-old Sandra Renee White was tragically cut short in what would become a grim and prolonged ordeal. A nurse known for her dedication to helping others, she was expecting a baby boy, Antonio, and was preparing for a baby shower. However, a sense of unease seemed to cloud her final days, hinted at by a social media post expressing a desire for a partner with goals and the unhappiness of her current situation.
On the morning of April 4, 2019, a 911 call from a concerned relative reporting potential violence at White's Stockbridge, Georgia, home set in motion a devastating chain of events. When Henry County police officers arrived at the residence on Eagle Court, they were met with gunfire from within the house. Two officers were injured in the initial exchange. The gunman, identified as 47-year-old Anthony 'Tony' Bailey Jr., Sandra's live-in boyfriend and the father of her unborn child, barricaded himself inside, initiating a standoff with law enforcement that would last for nearly 16 hours.
As the hours stretched on, a SWAT team was called to the scene. Late Thursday night, after attempts to negotiate with Bailey failed, officers deployed tear gas into the home in an effort to force him out. Bailey responded with more gunfire. In the pre-dawn hours of the following day, law enforcement made the decision to enter the home.
Once inside, they discovered a horrific scene. Sandra Renee White was found deceased in the garage. Her 16-year-old son, Arkeyvion White, a student at Dutchtown High School, was found dead in an upstairs bedroom. Anthony Bailey Jr. was also found deceased in a back bedroom from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators believe Bailey shot and killed Sandra and Arkeyvion before taking his own life. Family members later revealed that Sandra had been unhappy in her relationship with Bailey and had recently served him with eviction papers, but he had refused to leave the home.
