Lavonte Thomas, a 26-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 30, 2017, in Columbus, Georgia. The incident occurred on 24th Street near downtown Columbus, where Thomas was fatally shot. The circumstances surrounding his death were part of a violent day in the city, as he was one of three men who died in separate shootings on that Sunday. The Columbus Police Department identified Thomas as one of the victims and launched an investigation into the incident.
