On a Memorial Day in 2017, the life of 34-year-old James A. Robinson II came to a violent end in Hephzibah, Georgia. On the afternoon of May 29th, deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on the 4200 block of Deans Bridge Road after reports of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered Robinson's body. He had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation into the shooting quickly led to the identification of four suspects who were subsequently arrested and charged in connection with Robinson's death.
The individuals taken into custody faced a range of serious charges. James Leroy Dandy Jr., 34, of Graniteville, South Carolina, was charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Kevin Lee Stewart, 34, of Sardis, Georgia, faced charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Corie Raekwon Simpson, 21, of Augusta, Georgia, was charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The youngest of the suspects, 17-year-old Kyle Christopher Simpson of Augusta, Georgia, was also charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. All four were committed to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
