In the summer of 2017, the community of Cordele, Georgia, was struck by a sudden and tragic loss with the death of 11-year-old Charkevious Jamal Doster. A bright and loving child, Charkevious was born on March 21, 2006, and had just been promoted to the 5th grade at Crisp County Elementary School. He was known for his love of sports, particularly basketball, which he played with both the CCRD and D-1 Sports. His life, however, was cut short on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in a heartbreaking accident.
On that fateful day, Charkevious was involved in an accidental shooting. Reports indicate that the young boy reached for a gun, leading to the unintentional discharge that claimed his life. He passed away at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Cordele, leaving behind a devastated family and a community in mourning. No arrests were made in connection with the incident, as authorities determined the shooting to be a tragic accident.
Charkevious was remembered as a child full of life and love. He was an active member of the New Williams Grove Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. His family recalled his endearing habits, such as sneaking sodas from his grandmother's house and his love for the 'Ben 10' series and the 'Transformers' movie. He was a beloved son to Charles and Christine Doster and a cherished brother to Charles III, Char'Tavias, and Char'Darrious. His sudden passing left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
